5 days down- 277 more to go!

Well, I'm happy to say that I survived my first week of school, with no major catastrophes!

Some funnies that I heard this week were:

One of my little boys came up to me and was like, "Teacher, you are beautiful!" I said thank you, and then he continued for the rest of the day to come up to me and say, 'Teacher-you are still bee-utiful!" Haha..he's so cute.

Then, two of my girls were at my desk, and they were looking at my pens. I have a cool, purple, feathery, star pen that Bryan gave me. They were oohhing and ahhing over it and they were like "it's so pretty!" I said, " I know, my boyfriend gave it to me." Then they said, "Ohhhhh..you have a boyfriend?" And I said, "Yes, I do!" Then one of my little girls goes, " Ohh teacher, he treats you so nice!

Yes, why yes, he does! ;0)

I know that it's frustrating when they won't listen or stop talking, but I do love all the "firsts". I love the first time that they see the projector or my computer and ohhhh and ahhh over the things they've never seen. I still love how they get excited when they see me coloring or drawing for the first time and want to copy everything I do because I'm such a FABULOUS artist! :0) Oh yeah, I can stay in the lines! ;0)

It was a first week, but it was a good week!

Gustav

My boyfriend doesn't have school Tuesday or Wednesday because of this. Yeah, I'm not jealous or anything. Ok, well maybe I am a little bit. Ok, well maybe a lot.

1st Day-Check!

Well, I survived my third first day! It was actually the most uneventful out of my previous two years, which I'm thankful for! I'm just glad the first day is over with. Honestly, there's nothing good about the first day. Nobody knows what to do and it's utter chaos! :0) However, it gets better from here! They get used to it and fall into a blessed routine!

Ok, well I'm too tired to write anymore. Hope the rest of ya'lls week goes even better than today!

do or die!

Well folks, it's that time of year again! I will have to admit that I'm finally excited about my third "first day of school"! Bryan keeps asking me, "Are you excited?" and honestly, I haven't been up until this point. I've been too dang busy and stressed out! However, I finally realized that nobody's going to die if I don't have the name tags perfect tomorrow. I've done what I needed to do, and I'm not worrying about anything else. I will be there bright and early tomorrow morning, standing by the door, ready to greet my future students with a big smile on my face! It's going to be a great day! :0) Good luck for all of you teacher's starting tomorrow! We can do it! :0)

alllllmmmooosssttttt.....there

Well, I'm sad to report that when I got to my room at 7:30 this morning, no fairies had visited. However, I did fairly well without their help! Just so you all will know (and feel sorry for me), I'm writing this blog at 10:45 p.m and I just got home not too long ago. Yes, I got to school at 7:30 a.m. and got home at 10:15 p.m. It's ok, feel sorry for me, I do! ;0)

The good news is that I got a lot of work done today and only have about one table left of things to put up, mainly just my office/desk supplies. The bad news is that I now have to get everything ready for the first day of school. I'm not fooling myself in thinking that I will be able to get it all done tomorrow; I know that more than likely I will be unable to stay at home and go back up to school on Sat or Sunday. I know, I'm addicted.

Thankfully, tomorrow is a workday, so I'll get all day to hopefully finish everything up. We'll see. The parent's "Sneek a Peek" is tomorrow night from 4-6 p.m. I'm excited to get to meet some of my students though. :0)

Ok, well I'm signing off now. I'll try to update tomorrow with some pictures of my new room! Love ya'll!

WANTED: Flora, Merryweather, and Fauna

I'm stressed. I'm exhausted. I'm worried. Why you ask? One word..school.

One of my favorite movies is Sleeping Beauty. Tonight, I'm wishing that the good fairies Flora, Merryweather, and Fauna would sneak into my classroom and magically, with a flick of their wands, send all of the random crap that has piled up everywhere in my room into it's proper place. I wish it would just all magically go where it's supposed to go, and I wish that I didn't have to think one more time where I was going to put something. I wish that tomorrow when I walk into my classroom, the only thing that I would need to do would be to relax (instead of having to stay up at school until 10:00 at night, and still not be finished). Do you think it's possible?

I didn't either...but it was a nice idea.

anxiously waiting

Before I start my post, I need to give you a bit of information you'll need before you continue reading!

After some long conversations, arguments, tears, and prayers, Bryan and I (mostly Bryan) decided that instead of moving to Texas and attending grad school this fall, he would stay in Louisiana and teach for one year, in order to save money for when we eventually get married. Bryan was offered a job teaching at a private school in Shreveport and he accepted. I had a very hard time coming to terms with his decision, (and know that it was equally as hard on him) but after much prayer about this situation, came much peace. He knows that this is what God wants him to do this year, and because I love him, I will support him and encourage him every step of the way.

Now to the point of this post, on Tuesday I drove down to Shreveport to help Bryan get his classroom ready. This year he will be teaching Physics and Chemistry to juniors and seniors. I do think it's funny that I teach K and he teaches 12th grade-complete opposites, but that's how we like 'em! ;0)

I helped do some odd jobs and we got his room arranged. Today is is first day and I can't wait to hear how it went! They have a half day where the parents come to school with the kids, so he'll get to meet everybody for a little while. They're feeding the teachers lunch, and then he'll be home after that. I know he was a little bit nervous about today, but he was prepared and I know that he's going to do great!

I can't wait to hear how his first day went!

not much time

I should be:
  • finishing packing for the Phi Lamb Officer's Retreat that I'm leaving for tomorrow, instead of reading blogs
  • taking a shower
  • sleeping since I have to get up at 7:30 to get ready
  • packing
  • sleeping
  • sleeping some more

But instead I want to tell you that:

  • I'm super excited about the retreat this weekend! I get to meet some new officers, have a sweet time of fellowship, hang out with my best friend J, and get new Phi Lamb t-shirts. What more can a girl ask for? :0) *Shyanne, wish you could be there!
  • I love my boyfriend so much!
  • He surprised me and came down Monday night. Tuesday morning I woke up and he surprised me by going to Chick-fil-A and getting me breakfast and some beautiful flowers! (Yes, I know I'm spoiled!)
  • We spent Tuesday afternoon working in my classroom (new and old). He was such a lifesaver! He moved most of my stuff into my new room, while I did my calendar wall. We got a lot done, and I know I would have lost my mind without him. He's my hero!
  • He also put together two fabulous bookshelves that we bought at Target for my living room and bedroom. They're so fun!
  • I love Bryan Mitchell Moss.
  • I'm very tired.
  • The end.

bad news bears

Well, I haven't posted in the last couple of days because honestly, I was mad/depressed/feeling sorry for myself..blah, blah, blah!

To begin with as every teacher knows, when school starts back up in the fall, the first thing that every teacher wants to be doing is getting into his/her classroom and getting everything ready. Or in my case, putting everything back together. However, in my situation, this is not feasible at the moment.

At my school, and all the schools in my district, we are being retrofitted with new technology in our classrooms and throughout the school. The new stuff is really awesome and I can't wait to get in there and use my stuff! However, again, not feasible at the moment. Because of the retrofitting, they took almost everything down off of my walls (a big teacher's nightmare) and honestly, my room is a WRECK! It's just a huge mess, and has my crap and theirs everywhere! So, I've been stressing, not knowing when they'll be finished and I'll be able to get into my room to put Humpty back together again. Oh, and that's not the worst news.

Earlier this week, we got an e-mail saying that there have been some room changes in our school, so to come up and see what they were. So, I hurry up to school last Friday to look at the list, and lo and behold, I am the ONLY ONE out of my team that has to..dun dun dun..

MOVE ROOMS!

NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!

I know, I said it. It's horrible, I know. This, by the way, is every teacher's nightmare. And to add to my nightmare, I will be doing all of the moving basically on my own, since Bryan can't really come down and help, and none of my family can because they start school before I do. See how my nightmare keeps growing and growing?! :0(

Alas, there is nothing I can do. I have to sit and wait until they tell us that we're allowed to go in and work in our rooms...or for me MOVE rooms! :0( And then, I have to wait on my teammate, and she has to wait on someone else to move rooms, and then that person has to wait on somebody else and..blah, blah, blah.

So, yes, I'm just sitting here, trying to come to terms with my fate. But I'm still going to stay down in the dumps...until I actually hear some good news. Anybody have any good news??

:0(
