I have never sweat this much in my entire life!

What did I do to cause this you ask? Well, this morning I went to Sunstone Yoga here in Rockwall! I first heard about it from my friend Kelsey who started taking yoga at her location a while back and fell in love with it. I'd been reading her blog about it and tracking her progress. Well, she's really great about taking pictures and did some before and after pictures of her progress and man was I impressed! She looked like one hot mama! ;) So of course I said, "Hey! I want to look like that!" I googled Sunstone Yoga and to my surprise found out that there was actually one in Rockwall so I was super pumped!

If you know me, you know that I have never been one to go work out 24/7 or rarely at all. I've joined 2 gyms since I have been in Rockwall, one before my husband, and one after we got married. Before we were married, I did like going to 24 hour fitness and I did work out there more regularly (probably because I was getting ready for my wedding :). After Bryan and I got married, Bryan couldn't handle the size of 24 hour and so we went to a smaller gym. Well, that didn't last for very long. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't like working out with my husband (and I'm sure the feeling is mutual). So basically we stopped doing anything. This summer he's gone running a couple of times, we've gone on a few walks, but it's just not working.

I wanted to try and find a girl workout partner and just try something that worked for me. About 2 years ago, a co-workerof mine, Melody, started a little yoga class at school, and we worked out after school. I'd never done yoga before, but tried it and loved it! Unfortunately, Melody moved campuses and that was the end of yoga at school. So, when I heard about Sunstone I got on their website and researched info about them. I found out that they have this 10 for $10 offer, and decided that that's what I'd do! You have 10 days to complete whatever classes you want for $10. They suggest that if you're new to their place and to yoga, you take this intro class that will familiarize you with their place and teach you new poses. So, that's what I did.

I went this morning and really liked the yoga studio. The people were super nice and I was excited to get started! Oh, did I tell you that at Sunstone they are all about hot, hot, hot? Yes, every room that you take your classes in is at a temperature of either 90 degrees or 98.6 degrees with 60% humidity. They really believe in detoxing the body and sweating it all out! I was interested to see how this would go!

To make a long story short, I discovered several things about myself this morning. One, I can survive anything. I survived 90 minutes, working out, in a room temp of 98.6 degrees and didn't die. I have never seen myself sweat that much in my ENTIRE LIFE! It was also the HARDEST THING I've ever done..or that pertained to working out. I was used to yoga with Melody, but this was 10 times harder!

Did I also say how embarrassing it was? Oh yes, very. It was so embarrassing to be so out of shape and fat that you couldn't do a simple move like putting your feet side by side, ankle to ankle, and be comfortable b/c your thighs were so fat! I also realized that I am SO stiff and am not flexible AT ALL! The most embarrassing part was when I had to lay down on my mat several times b/c I was about to pass out/throw up! I think that might have been due to the fact that I didn't eat anything (just woke up and drove there) and it was SO hot. Seriously, I haven't been in that high of temperature, for that long of time, working out, all summer long (or ever)! Thank goodness the teacher was really great and actually thanked me for laying down. She said that many people will just keep working and not listen to their bodies and end up passing out. She said that you have to listen to your body and take a break if you need it. That's just being smart. After that, I didn't feel quite as bad.

So, even though going to yoga today was not my idea of fun, I am proud of myself for going, trying something new, and doing my best! I know that I am only bettering myself! I plan on going back for the second intro class tomorrow night to torture myself even more! :) Like I told hubby, tomorrow can't be worse than today is, and I'm going to do as much as I can in my 10 days and then after that, I'll decide if this is something I want to do seriously. I swear though, if I ever hear anyone say that yoga is easy and not hard, I'm going to punch them in the face! ;)

Yoga IS tough, especially hot yoga!! WAY to go on sticking with it and not giving up!!

I meant to tell you on your last post that James and I used to turn the AC off when we travelled to save money, but were told that actually isn't effective since your unit has to work so hard to cool the house back down when you get back. I was told that it basically defeats the purpose. They say it's much better to crank it up to 80+ degrees while you're gone so it won't have to overwork itself when you get back, but it still saves money since the temperature is up much higher than usual. Just thought I'd share! :)

I am so glad that you liked it. I really miss it and hope I can go back to it! It really did transform my body. It is tough though and it stays tough! Keep letting us know how it goes!

New to your blog {you look gorgeous in your wedding pic, but the way!}.. and I love this post. Hot yoga is one of my favorite things to do, but it is definitely intense and really takes some getting used to. But, I promise, the first class is by far the worst! Good for you for going back!

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog! Your wedding photos are gorgeous! I just recently left Lifetime Fitness and started going to Lady of America. Do they have those over there? Lady of America is this tiny little gym for women only (that was the selling point for me!) but has everything I need. Cardio machines, classes, and weight machines...and a daycare! They have a sauna and tanning bed (don't use that though) too. I love it though and since I feel so much more comfortable going since its all women. And a lot of times I'm the only one in there working out too! Definitely recommend it if you are into that kind of place. Anyway, I'm now "following" your blog too! :)
