My insurance wouldn't cover Lo ($60/month!) so I switched to a generic Ortho Tri Cyclen for $9/month. I'm not a huge fan of putting extra hormones in my body, so Josh and I decided that I would stop hormonal BC completely. We're not actively trying to conceive, but not stopping it either.

For antibiotics, use a backup just in case. Not all antibiotics affect birth control, so just read your pharmacy labels or talk to the pharmacist if you have questions about it.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09099690673242828996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-58405786138931506732009-11-03T09:50:37.924-06:002009-11-03T09:50:37.924-06:00orthotricyclen lo is good too. I'm on Necon...it's $10/month with my insurance.I've taken it for 4 years and after trying several, it was the best for me (doesn't make me as sick as the others). Will also learned about all of the inhbitors/side affects/nerdy dr. stuff about mine and said it seems pretty safe. and yes, antibiotics and steroids (prednisone) can cause your bc to be inactive.Kyrbie Alexishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09868478177781000886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-25030292857472139662009-11-03T06:23:54.149-06:002009-11-03T06:23:54.149-06:00I'm pretty sure the antibiotics thing is true ...I'm pretty sure the antibiotics thing is true too. I don't know if it's with certain types or what, but I would stick to everyone's "use a backup" plan.

Not on birth control at all. :)

But, I had horrible experiences with BC so I'm going to try to find a nonhormone kind that works after the baby.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02900990551382691170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-24455798406067167452009-11-02T22:26:53.376-06:002009-11-02T22:26:53.376-06:00I am on Yasmin and like it. I have heard many of stories about "surprises" as a result of antibiotics.Kelsey Clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17425514030476891411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-3776624504133632552009-11-02T22:20:45.285-06:002009-11-02T22:20:45.285-06:00hmmm. One of my kids came as a result of the Lords timing and birth control mixed with antibiotics...it should be written on your birth control info too.

I took Orthotricyclen for the longest time and never had any problems, but that was before birth control got all fancy and had fun options like 3 month pills! But it is on the WalMart/Sams $5 prescriptions I think...Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16882432772810860298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-13124056131396947042009-11-02T21:57:46.813-06:002009-11-02T21:57:46.813-06:00Yes, use a backup method if you're on antibiot...Yes, use a backup method if you're on antibiotics. This is a true statement.

I am on Yaz. Well, er, I take that back. I am on nothing at the moment. Spoiler alert! I have taken Ortho Tri Cyclen (which made me crazy and I hated it). Desogen (which I liked enough to take for 5+ years, but could still tell it was full of hormones) and then Yaz. Yaz is great, but since it's such a low-dose hormone pill, there was a lot of spotting the week before my period. But not enough to want to change pills.

Ok, I suppose I should post now seeing as how I just let that secret fly!backflip photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16808174621049036780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010133616098112872.post-47135186696753642812009-11-02T21:32:32.110-06:002009-11-02T21:32:32.110-06:00Don't know anything about the antibotics!!
