Brody by the Month! (5)

Brody turned 5 months old on August 30, 2015!

Brody, this is what you are currently doing:
  • You are still wearing 6 month clothing, but will move into 9 month soon!
  • You moved up to size 3 diapers this month.
  • You weigh 16 lbs!
  • You eat every 2.5-3 hrs and eat about 5-6 oz.
  • You tried oatmeal cereal this month, but didn't really like it and Mommy didn't notice a difference when you ate it. We decided to keep giving you your bottles and wait until you seemed more interested.
  • You are still sleeping through the night! I've tried to start putting you down earlier and you normally sleep from 8:30-9 p.m until normally 8 am or later! You love your sleep and will almost always out sleep your sister!
  • You were still swaddled every night, but you started to try and roll over, so Mommy knew she had to do something soon. I knew you wouldn't be able to stay in your swaddle for much longer. I saw online about Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit. I loved it because it has a light layer of cotton inside that kind of weighs you down, so your reflexes don't startle you awake. Your hands and feet are open though so if you did roll over, you would be fine. Mommy started putting you in that during your naps and at night and you loved it!
  • Thanks to your sleep suit, you now will take nice naps in your bed, ranging from 1-2.5 hours!
  • Mommy rocked you to sleep in the past, but the doctor said I could start sleep training you. I was unsure doing it this early, because I didn't train your sister until she was much older. However, you have done great! The first night I took you out of your sleep sack and that did NOT work! I put you back in it and you sleep like a champ. The first night you cried off and on for about 30 minutes, but since then, I maybe have to go in a soothe you once, but you really just fuss for a minute and then go right to sleep! It has been so nice!
  • Your sister is still your best friend! You light up when she's around and she makes you smile and laugh all the time!
  • You are still squealing and talking up a storm this month!
  • You are such a happy baby! As long as you are fed, have a clean diaper, and are around people, you're good to go!
  • You are very hot natured! You only sleep in a diaper and your sleep suit at night and for most of your naps.
  • You still love bath time!
  • You chew on your hand or your thumb all the time. You are beginning to teeth, but I haven't spotted a tooth yet!
  • You still love riding in the car seat but don't fall asleep while driving like you did when you were little.
  • We started putting you in your Little Einstein's jumper and you LOVE it! You spit up every.single.time you get in it, but you are so happy! You jump and jump and jump!
  • You rolled over for the first time on August 12th!
  • You get mad though because you can roll from your back to your stomach, but you haven't learned how to roll back onto your back.
  • You are still laid back and sweet. You'll pretty much go to anyone and smile away!
  • You still have very light brown/blonde hair and you have a lot more this month!
  • You still love your paci, but don't have to have it all the time.
  • This month you went with the family to Shreveport for Abigail Hay's wedding! You did so good!
  • Daddy went back to school, so we helped him in his classroom!
  • You also went with Mommy to take sissy to her swim and gymnastic lessons!
Oh sweet baby..you make Mommy smile every day and I love to smother you with kisses! You are my pride and joy Brody Mitchell Moss! :)

Brody by the Month! (4)

Brody turned 4 months old on July 30, 2015!

Brody, this is what you are currently doing:
  • You are now wearing 6 month clothing.
  • You still wear size 2 diapers.
  • We had your 4 month checkup and you weighed 14 lbs 4 oz! You were 25 in long and your head was 43.7 cm, and in the 95% percentile! You have your Daddy's big head! ;)
  • You still eat about every 2-2.5 hrs. This was a hard month for Mommy with nursing. Last month, you had a big growth spurt and Mommy couldn't keep up with nursing you. I would try to nurse first and then give you a bottle, but you got to where you were so hungry, you wouldn't latch on. You would just scream and scream. If I tried to nurse and supplement with you, it would take around an hour to finish a feeding. It just wasn't working well. I ended up giving you more and more bottles and you just seemed happier. Daddy and I talked and I made the decision to stop nursing you. I wasn't producing enough and no matter what I tried, I just couldn't make enough milk. It absolutely broke my heart though. I felt like a failure and I was so mad at myself for not being able to nurse you as long as I did your sister. I came to realize though, that the MOST important thing was that you were happy and healthy and nothing else mattered. This month you drank bottles of breastmilk & formula and ate about 4 oz.
  • You are still sleeping through the night! You normally sleep from 9-10 p.m until normally 8 a.m.
  • You are still swaddled every night!
  • You started sleeping in your crib in your bedroom this month. Daddy wasn't sure if you were ready, but you love it!
  • You still aren't taking a consistent nap. Most of the time Mommy holds and rocks you.
  • Your sister is still your best friend!
  • You are spitting up a LOT this month. Mommy changed your formula and when I burp you and that seemed to help.
  • You are also drooling a lot this month! We go through a bunch of bibs!
  • You are squealing and talking up a storm this month! You seem to have found your voice and like to use it often!
  • You still love bath time!
  • You still love riding in the car seat and are a total pro!
  • We don't use your swing anymore. You still love being held, playing in your bouncer on your play mat!
  • You are very laid back and so sweet!
  • You still have very light brown/blonde hair and more of it is growing in!
  • You still love your paci, but don't have to have it all the time.
  • Mommy is sad that you're napping in your crib now, but I have still managed to sneak in a few naps with you!
  • This month you went with the family to Shreveport for the 4th of July! You loved watching the firecrackers and slept so good at Grams & Pop's house! You got to meet your Uncle Marshall, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Colby and Aunt Hillary for the first time! We also took a special trip to see your great grandmother Florence. We got some of the most precious pictures of you and Daddy and Gram with Granny. We will treasure those forever!
  • You also took a trip down south to see your Aunt Jacque, Uncle Jason, and cousin Jillian in Stockade! You did awesome on the drive down there and back. We had so much fun seeing them and can't wait until next time!
You are such a sweet, happy baby and we can't wait to see what the next month brings Brody man!

Brody by the Month! (3)

Brody turned 3 months old on June 30, 2015!

Brody, this is what you are currently doing:
  • You are wearing 3 months clothing.
  • You now wear size 2 diapers.
  • You weigh around 12 lbs!
  • You eat about every 2-2.5 hrs and nurse 20-30 minutes. Depending on how much you nursed/how hungry you are, you get a 2-4 oz bottle after that if you need it.
  • Your naps during the day still aren't very consistent. Sometimes they're 30 minutes, or sometimes they are an hour or two! If you take one, Mommy has to hold you or you sometimes sleep in your swing.
  • You are still sleeping through the night! You normally sleep from 10-11 p.m until normally 7-8 a.m.
  • You still sleep in your bassinet in Mommy & Daddy's room.
  • You are swaddled every night. You outgrew your Swaddle Me's, so Mommy had to buy you a new swaddle. I got the sleep sack that had the arms that can be swaddled and you love it!
  • You still love your sister and light up when she comes around!
  • You still give us big smiles and are cooing at us! You're doing more talking this month.
  • You still love bath time!
  • You love riding in the car seat and are a total pro!
  • You seem to tolerate your swing, but don't like it as much anymore. You still love being held, playing in your bouncer on your play mat!
  • You are very laid back and so sweet!
  • You still have very light brown/blonde hair and more of it is growing in!
  • You love your paci, but don't have to have it all the time.
  • You and Mom still manage to sneak in a few naps together and it's the best thing ever!
  • You took your first trip to Nana & Papa's house and got to meet your cousin Titus, Aunt Chessa, Uncle Taylor, Uncle Chase, and Uncle Chandler for the first time! You rode great in the car down there, but for some reason you were very upset and cried a lot when we got there. Mommy had quite the time trying to get you to sleep that night. You screamed bloody murder and that was so unlike you. You slept in the crib at Nana's house for the first time and did great!
  • While we were there it was Father's Day weekend, so we went to church with Nana & Papa. We also got to see Uncle Chris & Aunt Morgan while we were there!
You are the light of our lives sweet boy and we love you so much!

Brody by the Month! (2)

Brody turned 2 months old on May 30, 2015!

Brody, this is what you are currently doing:
  • You are still wearing 0-3 & 3 months clothing. We'll probably have to move you into 3 month clothing soon!
  • You still wear size 1 diapers, but I might move you into Huggies overnight diapers because you've been wetting through your diaper every night recently.
  • You NOW weigh around 11 lbs! When I took you in for your 2 month appointment, the dr wasn't happy with your weight gain. You weighed around 9.6 lbs. She told us that you needed to gain about 6-8 oz in two weeks. That didn't make Mommy feel good, so we had the choice of waking you up at night to feed you, or I could give you an extra bottle. We decided to give you a bottle of formula to fatten you up until you gained the weight she wanted. Well, that kinda backfired. You also went through your 2 month growth spurt and mommy couldn't keep up with feeding you, so we started supplementing with more pumped breast milk or formula. When we went back for your 2 week appointment, you had gained a pound and weighed 10.6! I was glad you gained more weight, but sad that we had to start supplementing with you. I know it's for the best and the only thing is that you're happy and healthy!
  • You did really good with your 2 month shots and only cried a little bit! You're my brave boy!
  • You eat about every 2-2.5 hrs and nurse 20-30 minutes. Depending on how much you nursed/how hungry you are, you get a 2-4 oz bottle after that if you need it.
  • Your naps during the day range from how happy you are & how much you've eaten. Sometimes they're 30 minutes, or sometimes they are an hour or two!
  • You are officially sleeping through the night! You normally sleep from 11 p.m until normally 6-7 a.m. Today though I had to wake you up at 8:30 to feed you!
  • You still love your sister and light up when she comes around!
  • You are now giving us big smiles and cooing at us!
  • You still love bath time!
  • You love riding in the car seat and are a total pro!
  • You still like your swing and being held. We started putting you in your bouncer and you seem to like that better though! You kick and play with Mr. Fox! You also like to play on your play mat!
  • You still love to be swaddled.
  • You are very laid back and so sweet!
  • You still have very light brown/blonde hair and a little bit more of it this month!
  • You love your paci, but don't have to have it all the time.
  • You and Mom took several good morning naps your first few weeks because we were so tired! :) You're the best snuggler!
  • You took your first big trip with Mommy, Daddy, Abigail and Gram! We flew to Florida for Daddy's national gymnastic meet and you did so good! You ate and slept the whole flight down there and back. You did great at the hotel and had your first trip to the beach.
We love you so much sweet boy and can't wait to see what the next month looks like! :)

Brody by the Month! (1)

Brody turned one month old on April 30, 2015!

Sweet boy, I can't believe you've been with us a month already! Time flies by so fast! We all have been adjusting to a new family of 4 and you are such a great baby!

Brody, this is what you are currently doing:
  • You wore newborn clothes for about 2 weeks and then Mommy had to move you up to 0-3/3 months because of your length. 0-3 clothes definitely fit you the best.
  • You also wore newborn diapers for about 2 weeks, but we moved you up to size 1 diapers because of the amount of accidents you were having!
  • You weigh around 8 lbs 12 oz.
  • You eat about every 2-2.5 hrs and nurse 20-30 minutes.
  • You take several 1-2 hr naps during the day and we've even had a few 3 hr naps!
  • The first couple of weeks you woke up during the night normally 1-2 times.
  • You slept through the night for the first time on your 1 month birthday!! You normally sleep from 11-12 p.m until normally 6 a.m
  • You love your sister! She likes to take care of you all the time!
  • Your umbilical cord fell off when you were a week old.
  • You love bath time, but HATE being cold!
  • You peed all over Mommy and Daddy the first couple of weeks while we were waiting for your circumcision to heal, but after that, we pointed that thing down and stopped that! Daddy said you "sniper peed" on everything.
  • You love riding in the car seat and are a total pro!
  • You like your swing and being held.
  • You like to be swaddled. Mommy wasn't sure if you did in the beginning, and thought you liked having your arms out, but after a few nights of not sleeping very well, figured out I was wrong and we went back to the swaddle me!
  • You are very laid back and so sweet!
  • You have very light brown/blonde hair. I'm interested to see what it turns out to be when you get older!
  • We've experienced the normal baby acne and peeling skin this month, but not much hair loss. I guess since you didn't have much hair when you were born, you didn't have much to lose! :)
  • You love your paci, but don't have to have it all the time.
  • You and Mom took several good morning naps your first few weeks because we were so tired! :) You're the best snuggler!

Brody man, you definitely have your Mommy's heart! I love you to the moon & back!

Abigail Update

Well, I had the intentions of doing a 2 year old post for Abigail, but that is a little pointless now since she just turned 3, so now we're doing a 3 yr old post! :)

I still can't believe that she's 3 years old! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital and now she's a big sister! Here are some things about Abigail:
  • I haven't had her checkup yet, but I think she weights around 30 lbs.
  • Physically, she has more of Bryan's body type. She definitely has his feet, calves and just a very muscular body for a 3 yr old!
  • She loves being around people and will talk to pretty much anyone; however, she also loves to play by herself and is very independent!
  • Her toy kitchen and animals/babies are her favorite things to play with.
  •  She loves to be outside and play on her swing set and sandbox.
  • Her favorite shows are: Sophia, Sherriff Callie, Jake, & Daniel Tiger. She's not as interested in watching  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse anymore, but still loves the characters and talks about going to Disney one day.
  • Her favorite movie is Frozen and that's the only movie she'll watch.
  • She loves to dance and sing non-stop and is a pretty good dancer!
  • She LOVES gymnastics. She is definitely her father's daughter! This spring she started taking gymnastic classes. She is pretty advanced for her class, but just needs to work on listening better. She kinda likes to do her own thing! ;)
  • She just went on her first plane ride and loved it!
  • She's not really afraid of anything right now. Has no fear with pretty much anything.
  • She is very independent and is in the "I can do it myself!" phase.
  • Thankfully she hasn't insisted on picking out her clothes...yet.
  • Has beautiful naturally curly hair! I love her curls!
  • Is very sassy, but also sweet!
  • Is an amazing big sister! I wondered how she would be with Brody, but I couldn't have asked for things to have gone any better. She absolutely loves him and helps me all the time. She is such a good little Mommy! Brody loves her too and lights up when she's around!
  • Is still an amazing sleeper! She sleeps from about 8:00-7:00 every night and takes a 1-2 hr nap almost every day.
  • Very technology smart. Knows how to use our iPhones and iPad (or high pad as she calls it) too well.
  • Loves giving family kisses!
  • Is a pretty good eater. She'll eat most everything, but doesn't really eat a lot. I don't push it. I know she'll eat when she's hungry! Loves yogurt, oatmeal, eggs, cereal, mac & cheese (her favorite), tortillas, all fruit.
  • She is still allergic to peanuts as far as we know, but I plan on having her tested soon. I want to see if by some chance she grew out of it. I'm crossing my fingers that she did!
  • Her favorite thing is going to church, or "Jesus" as she calls it, each week. She has grown so much! When she was 2, we went through this phase where she cried almost every week, but now she doesn't cry at all! She tells us everything she did and asks almost every day if we get to go to "Jesus" today!
  • We switched babysitters this spring and she started going to her new babysitter, Mrs. Shelly. Shelly is actually our next door neighbor and an old co-worker of mine, so it worked out perfectly! Abigail loves her and asks to go to Mrs. Shelly all the time!
  • Her best friends are Charlie and Caylee!
  • Is completely potty trained except for at night. She still wears pull-ups but wakes up a lot dry. We're planning on potty training this summer for the night time.
  • Sleeps in her big girl bed at night, with a rail on the side. She also has to sleep with her bunny, babies, Mickey & Minnie Mouse, and Lambie.
  • She is the most attached to Bunny and I am dreading the day when Bunny falls apart! :(
  • Every night we also have to lay in bed with her & snuggle and most of the time she insists that we sing: Jesus Loves Me, How Much is that Doggy in the Window, Shoo Fly Don't Bother Me, and Silent Night or Jingle Bells!
  • She can be very bossy, but she is very sensitive and loving! She really wants to help and please you.
Abigail, it is such a joy to watch you growing up! You make me laugh and smile every day and I am so blessed to be your Mommy! I can't wait to see the big plans that God has for you..because baby girl, you're going to change the world!

Snow Days 2015

We got another 2 days off of school again this year because of all the snow we got! We had two different snow storms and definitely got a lot more snow the second time around. It was so pretty! Abigail and Bryan had so much fun playing in it!
