Movie Synopsis: New York architect Amy Benic (Mira Sorvino) meets blind masseur Virgil Adamson (Val Kilmer) and falls in love. As she learns his lifelong blindness may be curable through experimental surgery, she convinces him to undergo the operation. Virgil then learns vision may not quite be what he expected.
I have always seen this movie at the video store, and always wanted to see it, but never rented it. I finally added it to my list of movies to watch on NetFlix and got it in the mail today. I watched it tonight, and it was so good! I knew that Val Kilmer was in it, and he did a pretty good job. It took me a little while to warm up to his character..I thought he was acting kind of weird in the beginning, but then I liked him! I didn't know that Mira Sorvino was in this movie, but I will have to say that this is my absolute favorite movie of hers. I've seen her in a lot of movies, but in my opinion, this was her best! If you haven't seen the movie, I encourage you too. It will put your life into perspective, and make you thank God for simple things that you take for granted every day!
I'm posting below one of my favorite quotes from this movie. Amy (Mira Sorvino) is talking to her friend Betsy about Virgil (Val Kilmer). I love this scene in the movie!
" There’s something about this guy..he makes me feel like I’m, I’m waking up after being asleep for a long time..I mean I’m inspired again, I can draw again~and the way that he touches me.. it’s just that when he touches me, I feel like he does it to know me better-not to get something from me...and when he listens to me, it's as though my words are the last sounds on the planet and even though he doesn’t know what I look like, I feel like he really knows who I am. He just moves me that’s all..."
Oh to find such a man who makes you feel like that...one day, one day
