Couch Update

Today I started week 3! Whoo hoo..go me right? Well, I am happy to report that I almost died..seriously..

Ok, well maybe not "seriously", but I sure felt like it! This week's new workout assignment is to complete 2 rotations of :

jog 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
walk 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
jog 400 yards (or 3 minutes)
walk 400 yards (or 3 minutes)

Now when I was reading this, I'm like ok no biggie..until I got to the JOG FOR 3 MINUTES part..I was not thrilled with that..and now I know why.

While I was running, did I not like it? Yes.
Did I think I was going to die? Yes.
Did I think my head was going to explode? Yes.
But did I finish the whole workout? YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Even though I was pretty sure I was going to collapse at any moment and I have no idea how my legs actually kept moving, I liked running where I did today. Normally, I run on the sidewalk around my neighborhood; however, lately I haven't liked it as much because basically it's not long enough. I have to run back and forth it 2-3 times to get my workout completed. So today, I decided that I would go out and run on the actual road. It was long and wide enough where I could run on the shoulder and not in the grass. The other great thing about this, is that I got a definite ego boost today! I can't tell you the number of honks and waves I received from complete strangers on my run ;0) AND they weren't even all men (though most of them were ;0)

*Kyrbie, before you even say anything, don't worry. I don't plan on running on the road at night! ;0) Only in the day time!

I recorded my run today and I ran/walked 2.4 miles, I have lost 3 lbs since my weigh in at school last Friday, and I've lost half an inch from my waist!

Overall, today's run completely sucked. But I did it, and I'm so proud of myself!! ;0)

Yay you!!! I hate hate hate running, and I always wished I could be one of those people who loved running. It just kills me.

I LOVE kickboxing. I will admit, I don't see the kinds of results that I had when I worked out at an actual gym and did the elliptical and weights. And the treadmill, except my treadmill workout involved walking sideways at an incline, upping the speed, and switching sides. It is the only way I ever lost actual inches off my hips and saw a noticeable difference within about 2 weeks.

Anyway, I don't do like, hardcore, I'm-going-to-kill-someone kickboxing. It's Turbo Jam, which, yes, is an infomercial, but I heard about it from a friend, and I love it. I have 200% more energy when I do it regularly, and I lost a few pounds and kept them off, but I don't have the muscle definition like I used to, like I said. I think it's worth a try, though, for a good at-home workout.
